Throughout her 21-year teaching career, Ashley has worked with a variety of students in the elementary setting. Ashley uses both Orton Gillingham methods and Wilson Foundations. She is very passionate about reading and loves showing people the joys of reading.
Ashley is a licensed intervention specialist and has over 12 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities ages 5-32. Prior to teaching, Ashley was an Inclusion Support Specialist at Columbus Parks and Recreation where she advocated for and modeled best practices for inclusion throughout the Central Ohio community. Ashley is passionate about building relationships with her learners and having fun while teaching reading skills!
Brandi’s professional history includes 23 years of teaching. Her instruction focuses on incorporating phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, fluency, writing, and comprehension.
Breanna’s professional experience includes working with individuals with developmental disabilities and adult populations throughout her graduate school career and clinical fellowship year. Specifically she has worked in The Ohio State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, Columbus City Schools, OSU Wexner Medical Center, Dodd Rehabilitation, and The Ohio State University Aphasia Initiative. Breanna uses Multi-sensory, language-based approaches. All her instruction is personalized, direct, and flexible.
Carla is a literacy tutor with about a decade of teaching and tutoring experience. Carla has completed various trainings to support her work as a literacy tutor, including an intensive program, in Orton- Gillingham methods of multi-sensory literacy instruction and training on Wilson and SPIRE.
Deborah is a licensed intervention specialist with 14 years of teaching and tutoring experience. She has a master’s degree in special education
Ebony is a licensed intervention specialist and reading endorsed educator with 22 years of teaching experience. She is excited to join this program to help adults become as independent as possible.
Florence is a licensed speech-language therapist with over 30 years of experience teaching and providing therapy to people of all ages ranging from babies through early intervention programs all the way to adults and the elderly. In addition, she teaches college courses in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Florence wants adult learners to know that she loves teaching and her teaching/intervention philosophy is to "See the DONUT and not the hole!" She believes that together we can use what we can do (ability) to build the bridge that will help us address the disabilities! She loves music and creativity and strives to make her sessions interesting and FUN! One of her strengths is the innate ability to think outside the box and use her creativity to utilize different strategies when things are not working the way they should.
Ingrid has 23 years of teaching experience, including classroom instruction and in-home tutoring. She has access to Orton Gillingham, Stevenson, and Wilson materials and many resources to help improve reading comprehension ( materials for vocabulary, making inferences, visualizing, sequencing, etc.)
