Kay is a licensed elementary educator with 31 years of teaching experience, mostly at the 6th grade level. Kay also has 14 years of tutoring experience across grades K-12. She loves collaborating with specialists and has served many students with a variety of abilities and needs over the years, including but not limited to hearing impairments, cognitive delays, language processing disorders, and mental health challenges. Kay is excited to join the Adult Literacy Ohio program because she believes that everyone deserves to learn under the guidance of a knowledgeable, compassionate and empathetic teacher who truly cares about others. Scott has five years of teaching experience at the elementary level. He has worked with individuals with ADHD, dyslexia, Autism and comprehension, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary deficits. He uses Heggerty and HMH which both include explicit instruction in key areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. Adults who can read, write, do basic math, and use a computer are more likely to achieve goals such as meaningful work, understand directions, etc. Scott looks forward to supporting adult learners on their literacy journeys!

Sharon is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and 1990 graduate of Walnut Hills High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in May of 1995 from Bennett College. Additionally, she earned a Master of Science degree in Biology, Secondary Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Sharon brings 28 years of professional licensed teaching experience. She has taught all subjects at all learning levels. Sharon uses effective instruction for meeting learners where they are and growing their literacy levels and skills across all subject matter.
