Scott has five years of teaching experience at the elementary level. He has worked with individuals with ADHD, dyslexia, Autism and comprehension, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary deficits. He uses Heggerty and HMH which both include explicit instruction in key areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. They can be used in cross-curricular subjects as well as in everyday lifestyle activities (i.e. grocery shopping: reading labels on products). Scott is excited to help fill the gap in adult literacy for adults with developmental disabilities because he wants to be a part of a program that unlocks opportunities for adults to engage more fully in their communities and enrich their lives. Adults who can read, write, do basic math, and use a computer are more likely to achieve goals such as meaningful work, understand directions, etc. Scott looks forward to supporting adult learners on their literacy journeys!
